Saint Johns' economy is one that is growing at a very quick rate. Saint Johns has a low unemployment rate, and the top industries include tourism, healthcare, finance, manufacturing and transportation and warehousing.
Saint Johns is part of the Saint Johns County School District. There are five elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one charter school. In addition, students can choose to further their studies at St. Johns River Community College. St. Johns River Community College is a two year community college that offers degrees and technical certificates in a variety of areas.
There is always something to see or do in Saint Johns. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is the newest arts facility located near Saint Johns. This beautiful building hosts national and international acts and features dancers, concerts and plays. The Saint Johns County Fairgrounds is the premier fair and festival facility in the area. The fairgrounds house various events throughout the year including the County Fair, exhibitions, and camping weekends. Residents of Saint Johns look forward to a number of events throughout the year, including Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas Parades, jam sessions for local musicians, and the Matanzas 5K run.
PARKS AND RECREATION
There is no shortage of outdoor recreational activities for the residents of Saint Johns. Golfers can head out to the Cimarrone Golf and Country Club, Golf Club at South Hampton, Champion's Club, Saint Johns Golf and Country Club, and Bentbrook Golf Course. Residents get their daily workout at the Julington Creek Plantation, an incredibly extensive recreation center that features dance classes, pools, tennis, camp programs, special events and a cardio room. Furthermore, Saint Johns is located on 40 miles of scenic coastline, which provides visitors and residents alike with multiple opportunities for boating, surfing, sailing, and gorgeous beach days. Fishermen enjoy fishing off of the local fishing pier located at St. Augustine Beach, and those with boats enjoy the many boat ramps that allow boaters to sail off into creeks and into the ocean. Finally, the Saint Johns Equestrian Center is a 20 acre equestrian facility that is ideal for any horseback rider.
